How to make a video from an image
How image-to-video works here: which models accept a start frame or an end frame, how to prepare the image, and how to describe the motion.
Step by step
Pick a model that accepts a start frame
Start frames are supported by Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.5, Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro, Kling 3.0 Omni, Wan 2.7, MiniMax H3, and Happy Horse 1.1. Choose one in the model picker before you add your image.
Prepare the image
Use a sharp image in the shape you plan to publish, for example vertical for TikTok or Reels, so you do not have to crop the result.
Describe the motion, not the picture
The image already shows the subject, so write what should move and how the camera moves, for example the model turns toward the camera, slow dolly in.
Optionally add an end frame
Models that take both a start and an end frame are Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.5, Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro, Wan 2.7, and MiniMax H3. Use an end frame to control where the clip lands, for example so one clip can hand off cleanly to the next.
Choose length and resolution, then check the cost
Set the clip length and resolution. The exact credit cost is shown before you generate, so test at the cheapest resolution first.
Generate, then re-roll
If the motion is not what you wanted, re-roll from your history with a tweaked prompt instead of starting over.
Start frame, end frame and reference images
Each model page lists exactly what it accepts. The help article on using your own images covers the limits in more detail.
- A start frame is the first image of the clip, which the model animates from.
- An end frame is the last image of the clip, available on some models only.
- Reference images guide the look of a subject or product without being the first frame, on the models that accept them.
When image-to-video helps
Starting from a still is useful when a product, a character or a scene must look the same as an existing picture. Curated product-shot presets and reference images work together for product clips.
Frequently asked questions
Which models support image-to-video?
Start frames are supported by Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.5, Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro, Kling 3.0 Omni, Wan 2.7, MiniMax H3, and Happy Horse 1.1.
Can I set the last frame as well?
Yes, on models that take both frames: Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.5, Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro, Wan 2.7, and MiniMax H3.
Do I describe the image in the prompt?
No. The image already carries the subject and the look. Use the prompt for the motion and the camera move.
