A faceless Short is a vertical video with a voiceover, pictures, a few short video clips, music and captions, made from a topic with no filming. You find it under Shorts in the app. To see how it works before you sign up, visit the Faceless Shorts page.
The steps
- Topic. Choose a listicle, an explainer or a product promo, say what it is about, and pick a tone, a length (15, 30, 45, 60 seconds) and a voice.
- Script. A script is written for you. Every line is editable, and you see how long it will take to say.
- Scenes. The script is split into scenes, each with a description of its picture. Mark a few as video clips and keep the rest as still images. You can reorder, add and remove scenes.
- Generate. You see an itemized price for the voiceover, the pictures, the clips and the music, and confirm once.
- Render. The pieces are put together into one video with captions that follow the voice. Pick the caption style and whether it ends on a short “Made with” card.
- Review and export. Watch it, download the video and the caption file, and copy the title, description and hashtags.
What is free and what costs credits
- Writing the script and planning the scenes cost nothing. Each account can write 20 scripts an hour.
- Credits are spent only when you confirm the price at the Generate step. A typical 45 second short costs about 28 credits, depending on how many scenes are video clips rather than stills, and you always see your own total first. See how credits work.
- Rendering is free, and so is rendering again with different captions. Each account can start 10 renders a day.
If something goes wrong
- A picture, clip, voiceover or piece of music that fails is refunded automatically and shows in your credit history. On a failed scene you can try again (you see the price first) or, for a clip, use a still image instead. See what to do if a generation fails.
- Your progress is saved, so you can close the page and come back to the short at any time. If generation stopped part way, a Continue button starts only what was never started, so nothing is charged twice.
- If the video could not be rendered, nothing is charged for that. Try rendering again, and contact us if it keeps failing.
What you can change, and when
- Before you generate: everything, including the script, the voice and the models.
- After you generate: the script is fixed, because the pictures and voice were made for it. To change it, start a new short.
- At any time: the caption style, the end card, and the title, description and hashtags.
Where your files are
The finished video appears in your History like any other video, so you can share it, trim it or export it from there. The individual pictures, clips and audio made for a short are not listed in History, to keep it readable. Deleting a short removes the short itself and leaves the finished video in History.
Posting it
We do not post for you. Download the video and the caption file (.srt), then upload them yourself, for example in YouTube Studio: choose Create, then Upload videos, and paste the title and description. A vertical video under a minute is recognised as a Short. YouTube asks creators to say when a video contains realistic synthetic content, and it favours channels whose videos differ from one another, so vary your hooks and add your own take.
Under our Terms you own the videos you generate, subject to the rights of any material you provide and the terms of our upstream providers.
